Victoria Ivie (they/them) is a local freelance journalist. They were a Pulitzer finalist for their newsroom’s Eaton fire coverage and have won awards statewide for immigration and diversity coverage. In college, they won multiple awards for investigative and diversity reporting while in leadership positions. They have increased diversity coverage in every newsroom they’ve been in. Victoria was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley. As a half-Ecuadorian whose grandfather was a hard-working immigrant, Victoria has a deep love for diverse and intersectional stories.
They were part of the inaugural UC Berkeley Local News Fellowship, where they were placed at the OC Register in the demographics and equity beat. Here, they covered race, religion, gender, sexuality and disability in the Inland Empire, Orange County and Los Angeles County.
